Spring FunFair & Expo Takes a Reprieve Year Conyers, GA – As Spring FunFair & Expo continues to search for a new venue, management has decided to take a year off in 2004. Sadly, for the first time since it’s inception Spring FunFair will not open it’s gates to entertain the residents of Rockdale County and beyond in 2004. Calling the Georgia International Horse Park it’s home since 1998, fair management has been working towards the growth of the event through either a new facility rental contract at the Georgia International Horse Park or a new venue altogether. “We felt that the fair was at a major crossroad in its growth and that at this time the venue location was crucial for review and consideration. With other contracts also in negotiation, it just made sense to take a year off to regroup. We are still looking for the right venue, but everyone involved realizes the importance of an ideal location and an ideal location for an event of this size is a challenge to find.” says Teresa M. Cox Hickey, President of CC Event Productions, promoters of the fair since it’s inception. Renegotiating both facility and ride contracts along with other attraction contracts so late in the season, reaffirmed management’s decision. Ms. Cox-Hickey does not regret the break: “Although it is disappointing, our partners support us 120%. We would rather spend our efforts searching for the perfect venue to do what we do best – promote a successfully diverse event with something for both the young and the young-at-heart.” With it’s attendance steadily climbing, Spring FunFair & Expo came to Conyers in 1998 and established itself as one of the most successful events in Rockdale and the surrounding counties, through partnerships with ABC (CountryFair), Infinity Broadcasting (FamilyFair) and many other local sponsors. FunFair was home for a touch of everything represented in the community – education, agriculture, fun, excitement and most of all ethniticity.
